BolusExpert - future intelligent Bolus-Management
|
| |
What does the insulin pump of the future look like? Many diabetics dream of an insulin pump that is working absolutely self-sufficient and that independently adopts all tasks of a healthy pancreas. An important step towards this direction is the BolusExpert system.
Without doubt to trace the personal individual basal rate is very important to reach a good bolus regulation. But what are the differences between the bolus manager and older pumps which can give a normal bolus, a lengthened bolus or a dual bolus, as well?
The user gets proposals of the adequate bolus rate. For this the gadget needs the current blood glucose level and the BEs the diabetic is going to eat. Generally speaking, the pump does what every diabetic should do every day. The advantages compared to the own calculations before each meal which might sometimes be faulty: The pump takes into account the insulin from the previous meal which is still working in the body. This way you will not forget about it when possibly taking corrections. A further advantage is that the user will be warned about coming hyper- and hypoglycaemia. So the user can keep the control even in stressful situations and is prevented from making mistakes.
