Diabetes and dementia

Diabetes and Dementia. When you are reading this headline you are thinking of: what actually has no influence to diabetes? The coherence between dementia and diabetes is controversial. Proofed is the fact that hypoglycemia/a low blood sugar level affects the cognitive efficiency (memory, faculty of speech, etc.).But what happens when you have permanent high blood glucose level? An american survey found out that the computational ability of diabetics, that are wrong or too high sized, is adversely affected. Added to that, brainfunctions decrease faster and the hazard of getting dementia doublicates. At early dementia the doctor has an inner conflict about what would be better for the patient: a higher blood sugar level and the therefore caused protection from hypoglycemia that the sick person wouldn´t notice completely or a lower blood sugar level and hence the slowly progression of dementia. At the same time the risk of hypoglycemia and the dying of additional brain cells is taken. If patients cannot syringe themselves, there is a change between ICT and CT a lot of times to make the nursing of the patients easier. We from DiabetesIndex account this risky because CT dictates that the intake of food has to be at a certain time and that isn´t easy for older people.

How can you protect yourself from dementia? Crosswordpuzzles alone don´t keep your brain fit. They are important to create new connections/links but they are just the reproduction of already existing knowledge. The mixture should be composed of sports, healthy food, tasks of reproduction like crosswordpuzzles and new tasks, for example playing chess or learning a new language or an instrument.
