Depression and depressive moroseness

The WHO regards depression as an increasing danger. Reasons for this are the decay of a family structure, the loss of ideological rules as well as the isolation of the masses and the favoured image of a single successful human supported by the media.

Every person suffering from depression has his individual symptoms. The textbook by Keiholz poses questions that should be answered by yourself: Am I able to feel joy? Am I having difficulties making decisions? Do I have interests or hobbies? Am I brooding? Do I sometimes think life is meaningless? Am I tired and lifeless in the morning? Do I recently suffer from insomnia? Do I have spontaneous sometimes long-lasting pains, e.g. in the breast? Did I lose weight because I lost appetite?

This is the way depression might affect our physical condition, thinking, feeling and acting. If suffering from diabetes it is important to tell a confidant doctor about a loss of appetite because this can lead to strong irregularities of the blood glucose level. A specialist can diagnose depression and treat it with medication or psychotherapy.

Besides these common treatments there are many more e.g. light therapy or vegetal agents such as melissa against melancholy.
