Hypo-test

The following exercises may help you to find out quickly whether you are hypoglycemia or not. To be able to notice the difference you should first do the exercises while you are on a normal blood sugar level.

A) The finger-nose-test

Close your eyes and try to lead your index finger to the top of your nose. Did you hit?

B) Peter Piper

Try to say a tongue twister as fast and clear as you can.
e.g.: Peter Piper packed a pack of pickled pepper, a pack of pickled pepper Peter Piper packed

C) The tremble-test

Hold up your hand in front of your body and stretch it. It's not important how you hold your fingers. Is your hand trembling or shaking? What are your fingers doing?

D) The stork

Try to stand on just one leg. Now bend the other leg to the front. Can you find your balance without shaking too much? How good are you with your eyes closed ("Blind stork")?

E) The reading-test

Read out loudly some passages from a newspaper or from our Diebetesindex site. Can you read aloud fluently or do you get stuck in the text? Do you get the sense of what you are reading?

F) The fingertip-test

Stretch out you arms to the sides and close your eyes. Now try to put them together in front of your body. Try to put together your indexfingers in height of your eyes.

G) Mental arithmetics

Start with the number 60 and alternately subtract 10 and add 6 (60 -10+6 = 56; 56-10+6 = 52). The inal result should be 0. When calculating faster, do you have more problems than you had when you were on a normalblood sugar level?

H) The straight-line-test

Walk on a straight line by placing one foot in front of the other so that heel and toe are touching. (By the way the policeis using this kind of test to find out wether you are drunk) At the end of the line turn around quickly. Are you able to follow the trace? Do you have problems balancing when you walk or after the turn?
