Tips on travels for diabetics : USA

A few decades ago the fast food culture headed its way starting in the USA and later influencing Western Europe. Characteristics of "fast food" (Schnellimbiss) are
  1. A very fatty and cholesterol-containing nutrition
  2. A dull or even monotonous offer of foods
  3. Foods containing only a few, if any, vitamins and carbohydrates
  4. Very sugary drinks

These elements altogether characterize a very unhealthy diet.
Because the European trend, noticeable only slightly, that is flowing in the direction of a more healthy nutrition and increasing renunciation of fast food, is not at all, or even less noticeable in the States, the most important tip on travelling that I have to give is: Try to avoid going to fast food restaurants and eat out at "real" restaurants instead.
Additionally, at these restaurants you can evaluate the amount of BE for their meals better than for fast foods.
