What goes for all West-European countries in general, is that good medical care is available. A few other travelogues confirm this point, so you should be taken care of quite well in any case.
Travels in the direction of East <=> West, may of course be connected to time shortenings and expansions due to the trespassing of time zones.
When travelling in the direction of East => West (ex. Europe => America) one should therefore try to bridge the occurring expansion of time. To do so, one may take additional small doses of Humaloginsulin ahead of taking main meals on board of the plane. (Also one should monitor the blood glucose level before taking the meals.) Starting on the next evening one can then continue to take Basalinsulin and the Humalog or Normalinsuin as usual.
When travelling in the direction of West => East, which incorporates a shortening of time, one should therefore reduce the doses of Basalinsulin and Shorttime Insulin in the morning and evening about 10 - 30 % (please consult your doctor for exact facts) during the flight. However, in some types of therapy (ex. FIT) it is only the Basalinsulin that should be reduced.
